Scorpions are often backed up from in fear. Why? Venom & pain.
But scorpions are also, much like sharks or roaches, highlight reels of evolutionary fortitude. They have survived and survived as everything around them dies or noticeably morphs.
What does this say about their sun sign children? What is it to be represented by such creature?
Thing To Read
Are you familiar with the story of the Scorpion and the Frog?
What if it had economic implications?
While this story is old, the tale is tells is one that wouldn’t be hard to layer onto several more recent happenings. The cautionary tale stands.
Thing to Watch
I’m giving you a kid’s video, to spare you some of the cringiest bits in the videos for adult education. YouTube has a plethora, if you’re into it.
These motherfuckers sometimes care for young for up to 2 years. So perhaps crunch and stingy, but they aren’t believed to be the oldest land creature for nothing. Preservation and hard-won loyalty gets you places!
Thing to Wear
All black, but make it interesting and detailed.
I like to think of myself as a bit of a trend forecaster, and I think with the impending release of a new Matrix movie, we’re about to see a resurgence in cyber punk looks. It’s my biggest prediction for A/W 2022
Michelle Du Xuan’s work lately has featured a peek at what I think is about to be a mega trend. And Elle China seems to know exactly what’s coming:

Saint of the Week
Saint Julian of Antioch, the patron saint of scorpions
“Of senatorial rank, he was killed during the persecutions of Diocletian. His legend states that he was subjected to terrible tortures and paraded daily for a whole year through various cities of Cilicia. He was then sewn up in a sack half-filled with scorpions, sand, and vipers, and cast into the sea. The sea carried his body to Alexandria, and he was buried there before being moved to Antioch.”
There’s also a Cult of the Scorpion in Durango, in honor of the saint who protects children from scorpion stings (not quite, but…) San Jorge.
Compulsory Sports Thingamabob
How familiar are you with a cult of another kind… travelling baseball? One of the biggest names in the biz are The Scorpions.
Travelling teams like this hope to develop young kids with talent into future top MLB prospects. Big programs like this that have been around for a while have pretty good success rates. Based on some feedback from young men, I often wonder at what cost. Intense little bodies. Still, all quite interesting.
The Beauty Bomb
Scorpion venom can be incredibly complex. Often containing multiple kinds of toxins in one sting. When separated from each other, these aspects may have cosmetic benefits.
There is a UK based laboratory that has developed anti-inflammatory peptides from their research on Scorpion venom.
There is an Italian skincare brand that produces a moisturizer that allegedly houses some venom for your skin’s benefit.
And if you can trust Page 6, Kate Beckinsale’s kissing-Pete-Davidson-perfect skin is a gift from MRVL Skin Solutions, which uses “blue scorpion venom” as suspicious as that sounds.
