Life Lessons From A White Wolf
I have rewatched The Witcher
I just did a whole rewatch of The Witcher series on Netflix.
Now, you could say I just wanted to watch Henry Cavill do that growly voice, but I (also) love the show and how it presents a world at war. All the characters are interesting, but our main man is one of the most intriguing main men in all of fantasy reading.
Thing to Watch
Time is very weird in the first season, and a little odd in the second.
It is never mentioned that like 4 timelines are happening, all spliced together, and this is like my 4th rewatch, and I still catch new threads of how the unacknowledged timelines weave together.
What the show is trying to do is show you how far our decisions reach forward in time, and affect more people than we can fathom. The ripples in the pond, as it were.
If you’re looking for a more heavily fantasy, less rape-y Game of Thrones, I would recommend this.
Thing To Read
I haven’t been able to make it more than a few chapters into the book series this is based off of, but it is still a goal.
I have long wondered if the weird dealings with time are present in the books, too, and this YouTube title makes me think that is indeed the case.
I LOVED the sliding through time aspect with The Devils character Jakob of Thorn, so if that happens in the books, I’m in.
Also, Geralt of Rivia (the witcher) is so similar to The Devils Jakob character— men who have lived unnaturally long lives and come to regret what they have seen and done. They both have deep reflections on why we cannot be neutral in times of mounting injustice, and we must choose the side of redemption, yes please.
Thing to Play
How I was originally introduced to The Witcher, and how I became excited for the debut of the show several years back, is through the video games.
I have an ex who played Witcher 3, and I loved watching it so much. The graphics and storytelling in the game are remarkable, and the deep dark world of a fantasy version of Poland is magnificent.
If you have a gamer in your life who hasn’t played this yet, I think an introduction is in order, and a 4th game is releasing soon— so perfect timing!
I also want to buy a Switch off and on, and knowing this is on the Switch puts me on the side of wanting one again.
Compulsory Sports Thingamabob
In the video game Geralt has a bit of a gambling habit— he plays two games popular in The Continent— gwent and dice poker.
This is dice-poker, which apparently exists in real life. This is the board for it in the game. A numbers game, like the card version.
There’s a 52 minute video on YouTube about Geralt’s gambling problem. I laugh.
Gwent seems to kind of be an in-videogame Risk, playing out geopolitics in something of a card game. Also kind of like Magic The Gathering in that way. A blend of the two, if you will. Some people who play the videogame spend a lot of time getting really good at gwent, and seek it out in their play-throughs.
The guy I watched play the videogame was deeply uninterested in this.
Beauty Bomb
If you’re looking for white-wolf blonde, might I suggest this purple shampoo:
The Nexxus products in general are really great quality, and this particular shampoo is supposed to be one of the best rated blonders on the market in 2025.
It not only eliminates orangey-ness, but it helps the individual hair strands bond better so it is in theory stronger.
Chemically treated hair girlie pops know breakage is a looming threat best avoided.
When I had blonde money-pieces, this was my go-to, and I have given it as a gift.
